Each of my narrative Yarn/Threads of Connection images has some sort of story behind it.  Some stories are pretty straightforward, others are quite multi-layered, and a few remain forever a mystery.  The narrative artworks unfold as I work, sometimes taking a surprise twist, almost like an author writing a novel and not knowing from chapter to chapter what a character will say or do next.  They often symbolize for me the energy that goes into carding, spinning, winding, knitting and/or weaving “raw, natural matter” into something “totally other.” I can’t seem to create more than three artworks before my love for the world of richly textured and colored fibers makes its way back into an artwork!
